I couldn't speak my mind or the extent of my feelings in that formal public message that I had to write yesterday. It was a shock, an absolute shock. I'm feeling sad for Martin and Peter and everyone else at NCsoft Europe. There are a lot of other feelings that I'm keeping inside... But I will say that I feel gutted about this.

The only thing that I can really do, and which I have already said to them privately, is express my sincere appreciation for them and their work, as well as their friendship. It's not like we aren't going to keep talking to each other, but it's sad that we won't have this work in common anymore.

I know they're watching this thread, so Martin and Peter, good luck to you.

That's terrible, best of luck guys. I truly hope you find a job that suits you soon, such a fate should never be imposed upon anyone, let alone two people who have given so much time to something so many people love.

Thank you.

Many thanks for what you've done, for all the hard work, and the product it became and evolved into - the Guild Wars that we have all spent much time enjoying.

Thoughts, prayers, and meditations be with you all during the challenges ahead.

Regards,

Nihilist

Yes, it is true, they've fired many people (70-80) here at the European office of NCsoft. Community team has been declared "redundant", and therefore my work here will end soon.

But I promise that whenever I have time, I will visit the forums, as a normal user of course.

I will inform you when I have more news on where I go in the future.

Take care, and once again, thanks for everything!

I'm sorry if the translation is not accurate

Good luck Peter, good job man !!!!!

Organization of beverages at the Games Convention and skimming forums cannot really be the point of a community manager, sorry. No wonder that they were seen as redundant.

I also wonder about Regina's supposed workload. Whatever she is doing, it is for sure not spoiling too much information about GW2.

Maybe she is right and the better communication due to all departments working in the same building will improve the interaction/communication between CM, players and developers. Maybe in finally some news about GW2...
I don't think this thread is about or should be about what we feel about ANET(NCSoft) and it what it means for us. This is a thread to express our sincere thoughts and good will to those who have lost there jobs. It is not time to think about ourselves, but the misfortune of others.

Oh I remember them....weren't they the only Anet people who ever posted at the Guild Hall? Maybe I'm thinking of someone else.

I'm surprised anybody is shocked about this though...hasn't NCsoft been having problems lately? Not to mention the global economy right now is pretty garbage.

Martin and Peter and the others, gently show NCsoft the middle finger.

I hear England has an ok system for people loosing their job, so enjoy a bit of your free time to load yourself up to find a nice job again where you can feel good and be yourself guys.

I know how tough this must be on all those let go, Martin and Peter included. Thanks for all the hard work you've put in. While the community doesn't always show it, we really do appreciate the work you all put in. You will be missed, and the best of luck with your future endeavours.

Best of luck to Peter and Martin and the rest of the NCSoft Europe crew.

Martin was the only one I had much interaction with, and I can honestly say that he has been super for the community both here and in Europe. He was always accessible and helpful for some pretty sticky situations. When we held the Guild Wars Guru Challenge last summer he was the only NCSoft or ArenaNet official online when we ran into trouble with a guild, and he ably helped avert what could have been a catastrophe.

Please keep in touch guys as you move on, hopefully to bigger and better things!

You need to just keep playing games and avoid the complexity of the real world, which appears to exceed your comprehension.

I did think it, but you were both quicker and more ballsy to post it before me... cheers Martin

It's a hard thing, when events like this happen and i'm sure they and everyone else affected will wake up this morning feeling numb.

I'm sure everyone wishes you the best and also hopes you use this to spingboard you onto bigger and better things.
